Important Instructions for Zyclara

When and How to Use It

Some general considerations to keep in mind during treatment with Zyclara include the following:
  • The dosing instructions for using Zyclara for actinic keratosis of the face or scalp are much different from the directions for using the drug to treat genital or perianal warts.
  • For genital or perianal warts, Zyclara is applied once a day until the warts are gone (up to eight weeks). For actinic keratosis, the cream is applied once daily for two weeks, followed by a two-week break, and then two more weeks of treatment.
  • Wash your hands before and after applying the medication.
  • Apply the cream before bedtime, leave it on for eight hours, and then wash it off.
  • You might have to temporarily stop using Zyclara if severe skin reactions occur.
  • Stay out of the sun or wear protective clothing and sunscreen during treatment and until any skin side effects have cleared up.
  • For the medication to work properly, it must be used as prescribed.

Dosing Information

The dose of Zyclara your healthcare provider recommends will depend mostly on the condition being treated (actinic keratosis or genital warts) and whether you develop severe skin reactions to the medication.
