Clobex Dosage

Your healthcare provider will recommend a dose of Clobex based on the condition being treated and the particular form that is prescribed. If you are using Clobex shampoo, apply it to your scalp while your hair is dry, leave on for 15 minutes, and then lather with water and rinse. For the lotion or spray, apply twice a day.

An Introduction to Your Clobex Dosage

The dose of Clobex® (clobetasol propionate) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on the condition being treated and the product used (shampoo, lotion, or spray). As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Dosing for Clobex Shampoo

The standard Clobex dosage for treating scalp psoriasis is a thin layer applied to the affected areas of the scalp once a day for up to four weeks. Make sure to apply the product to your dry scalp (without water). Leave on for 15 minutes, and then add water, lather, and rinse well.
While waiting the 15 minutes, make sure to keep the medication off your face, lips, and eyes, and wash your hands immediately after application. If desired, you may use another, nonmedicated shampoo afterward, but this is not necessary.

Dosing for Clobex Lotion and Spray

The lotion and spray are usually applied twice a day. Rub in gently and completely. For most uses, these Clobex products should be used for no more than two weeks at a time. For stubborn cases of plaque psoriasis, however, the medication can be used sparingly for an additional two weeks (four weeks total), but only to the areas that have not adequately improved.
For any use, do not apply more than 50 mL of the lotion or spray per week. Do not use more than 26 sprays at a time (or more than 52 sprays per day). Using too much Clobex, or using it too long, increases the risk of serious side effects (see Clobex Side Effects).
