Zyclara Dosage

Your specific dosage of Zyclara primarily depends on the condition being treated and whether you experience potentially serious reactions to the drug. If you are treating actinic keratoses, apply the cream once daily for two weeks and then take a two-week break, followed by another two weeks of treatment. When treating genital or perianal warts, apply the cream once daily for up to eight weeks.

An Introduction to Dosing With Zyclara

The dose of Zyclara® (imiquimod cream) your healthcare provider recommends will largely depend on what condition is being treated and whether you develop severe skin reactions. As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Zyclara Dosage for Actinic Keratosis

The standard recommended Zyclara dosage for actinic keratosis treatment is an adequate amount of the cream (enough to cover the entire treatment area, up to two packets per dose or two presses of the pump per dose) once a day at bedtime for two weeks. After two weeks, a two-week break is needed. Then another two weeks of treatment is usually recommended. If you miss any treatment days due to severe skin reactions, do not add any extra days at the end of the two weeks to make up for these missed doses.
Sometimes, it may look like your actinic keratoses are becoming worse. However, do not make a judgment about the product's effectiveness until you have finished both treatment cycles and until your skin has healed from any skin reactions.
Zyclara 2.5% and Zyclara 3.75% cream are both approved for this use.

Zyclara Dosage for Genital or Perianal Warts

The standard dosage of Zyclara for treating external genital warts or external perianal warts is a thin layer applied once daily before bedtime until the warts are gone, up to a maximum of eight weeks. Women should be careful not to get any of the medication inside the vagina, as vaginal tissue is too delicate for this medication.
Only the 3.75% strength of Zyclara is approved for this use.
