Drugs That React With Vorinostat

QT-Prolonging Medications
Vorinostat may slightly increase the risk for a serious change in the heart rhythm known as QT prolongation. Taking it with other medicines that cause QT prolongation can further increase the risk for this life-threatening arrhythmia. Talk to your healthcare provider about this interaction if you take another QT-prolonging drug.
Valproate Medicines
There have been reports of low blood platelets and serious bleeding problems, including stomach and intestinal bleeding, in people taking vorinostat with a valproate medicine. If you take these medicines together, your healthcare provider will need to monitor the amount of platelets in your blood, using a simple blood test, every two weeks for the first two months of treatment.
Vorinostat has been reported to prolong the prothrombin time ("protime" or PT) and increase the international normalized ratio (INR) in people taking warfarin, which indicates there may be an increased risk for bleeding problems. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your PT/INR more closely if you take these medicines together and lower your warfarin dosage if necessary.
