What Is Topical Fluticasone Propionate?
Topical fluticasone propionate (
Cutivate®) is a prescription skin medication. It comes as a cream, ointment, or lotion. The lotion form is approved to treat
atopic dermatitis, while the other two forms are approved to treat a wide variety of skin conditions, such as eczema,
psoriasis, dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, and allergic reactions. It is a topical steroid.
Just like any medicine, topical fluticasone propionate may cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
Common side effects of topical fluticasone propionate include but are not limited to:
