Side Effects of Terbinafine

Common side effects of terbinafine include headache, diarrhea, or unexplained rash. Other side effects are more uncommon, such as fatigue, serious skin reaction, or vomiting. Some terbinafine side effects are potentially quite serious -- such as difficulty breathing or swallowing and hives -- and should be reported to your healthcare provider right away.

Side Effects of Terbinafine: An Introduction

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with terbinafine hydrochloride (Lamisil^®). However, not everyone who takes this drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, they are generally minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Serious Terbinafine Side Effects

Some side effects of terbinafine should be reported to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:

Signs of liver problems, including yellow eyes or skin, itching, dark urine, or pain in the upper-right abdomen
Vision changes, including blurred or double vision
Unexplained skin rash
Unexplained blisters or peeling of the skin
Itching
Hives
Unexplained swelling
Wheezing
Difficulty breathing or swallowing.
