Tazarotene Foam

When and How to Use This Medication

Some general considerations to keep in mind during treatment with tazarotene foam include the following:
  • Tazarotene foam is applied to the affected areas of the skin once daily, usually in the evening. Use only a thin layer.
  • Wash the affected area, usually the face and perhaps the upper chest, with a mild cleanser, dry thoroughly, and then apply the foam.
  • Shake the can well before each use.
  • Make sure to cover the entire affected area; "spot treatment" will not work nearly as well.
  • Make sure to keep tazarotene foam away from the eyes, mouth, and vagina.
  • Wash your hands after applying this product.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure on areas of the body where tazarotene foam has been applied, as you will burn more easily.
  • For the medication to work properly, it must be used as prescribed.
