Vorinostat Drug Information

Vorinostat (Zolinza®) is a drug used to treat cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, a type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma that affects certain white blood cells found in the skin. People with this form of lymphoma usually have red, itchy, rash-like patches of skin. They may also have tumors on the skin.

This prescription medicine works by interfering with how the cancer cells reproduce and causing the cells to die. However, this medication is not a cure for this disease and has not been shown to improve survival.

Although some people may not have any problems with this medicine, side effects can occur and may include diarrhea, vomiting, and fatigue. To minimize potential risks with vorinostat, make sure your healthcare provider has current information on any other drugs you are taking, as well as any existing medical conditions you have. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
