Protopic Medication Information

Protopic® (tacrolimus ointment) is a drug licensed for the treatment of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis in adults and children at least two years of age (children use the lower-strength formulation). This is a "second-line" medication, which means it is reserved for use in people who have failed other treatments or who cannot use other treatments -- perhaps due to drug interactions or bothersome side effects.

Prior to beginning treatment with Protopic, inform your healthcare provider about any other medical conditions you have or have a history of, such as kidney disease, lymphoma, or skin cancer. In addition, tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you are using. Discussing these things can help ensure the right treatment is used for your situation.
