Ivermectin Lotion Information

If you have head lice, your healthcare provider may prescribe ivermectin lotion (Sklice®). This medicated lotion is applied to the hair and scalp for at least 10 minutes. Only one application is necessary, as this product is specifically designed to kill the lice as well as the nits (eggs). Also, ivermectin lotion works in such a way that it is not necessary to comb out all of the eggs ("nit picking").

In many cases, people tolerate this medication well. However, possible side effects can include eye irritation, redness, and "pink eye." Reactions to this medicine tend to be minor and are typically easy to treat.

Before using ivermectin lotion, make sure your healthcare provider has updated information on your medical history, particularly if you have any allergies or skin conditions. Also, this medicine may not be the best choice for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
