Firazyr Medication Information

Firazyr® (icatibant) is a drug used to treat sudden attacks of hereditary angioedema (HAE), a rare genetic condition that can cause swelling beneath the skin. This prescription product is specifically approved for use in people age 18 and older.

Although Firazyr may be effective at relieving HAE symptoms, not everyone can use this medication. Information on Firazyr should be discussed with your healthcare provider before starting treatment to minimize your risk for certain complications. For instance, people who have had a recent heart attack or stroke may not be able to safely use this medicine.

Firazyr is given as an injection just under the skin (subcutaneously). Some people who receive this medicine will develop side effects, such as dizziness, fever, and reactions at the injection site.
