Cinryze Medication Information

When used for treating a rare genetic condition called hereditary angioedema (HAE), Cinryze® (C1 esterase inhibitor) helps to prevent sudden attacks that cause painful swelling beneath the skin. This prescription drug is specifically approved for use in adults and adolescents as young as 13 years old.

Although this medication may be effective at preventing HAE symptoms, not everyone can use it. Information on Cinryze should be discussed with your healthcare provider before starting treatment to minimize your risk for certain complications. For instance, people who have had a heart attack or stroke may not be able to safely use this product.

Cinryze is given as an injection into a vein every three or four days. Some people who receive this medicine will develop side effects, such as headaches, nausea, and a rash.
