Calcitriol Ointment Information

Containing an active form of vitamin D, calcitriol ointment (Vectical®) is a medication that can help treat mild-to-moderate plaque psoriasis. This medicine is available by prescription and is only approved for use in adults.

Although it may help relieve symptoms of psoriasis, not everyone can use the ointment. Information on calcitriol ointment should be discussed with your healthcare provider before starting treatment to minimize risks and to help ensure safe treatment. For example, you may not be able to use this product if you have high blood calcium levels, if you are taking certain medications, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Most people tolerate this medication well; however, side effects are possible and can include itching and skin discomfort. In most cases, reactions to the drug tend to be mild and easy to treat.
