Protopic 0.03%

Protopic® (tacrolimus ointment) comes in the following strengths:
 
  • Protopic 0.03%
  • Protopic 0.1%.
     
This prescription ointment is used as a "second-line" treatment for severe cases of atopic dermatitis that have not responded to other treatments. It works by suppressing the immune system. Children typically use the 0.03% formulation, while adults use the higher strength.
 
Regardless of the strength being used, only a thin film needs to be applied for each use. Applying more does not increase the effectiveness of the medication, but it does increase your risk of side effects.
