Picato Dosage

If you will be treating actinic keratosis with Picato, your dosage will primarily depend on the area of the body being treated. A higher concentration is used on the body once daily for two days, while the lower concentration is used on the face or scalp once daily for three days. It is important to avoid getting any of the medicine in your eyes.

An Introduction to Dosing With Picato

The dose of Picato® (ingenol mebutate) your healthcare provider recommends will largely depend on which area of the body is being treated. As is always the case, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Picato Dosage for Face or Scalp Use

The standard recommended Picato dosage for actinic keratosis treatment of the face or scalp is Picato 0.015% gel applied once daily for three days in a row. One tube contains a single dose; discard any leftover gel, and use a fresh tube for each dose.

Skin reactions should be expected. Sometimes, these reactions can be quite severe. If it is important to you, you may want to try to schedule your treatment during a time when you do not need to appear in public much for several days in case you have a severe reaction; this is often less of a concern for use on other areas of the body, which can be hidden with clothing or would otherwise be less noticeable. It is probably best to avoid covering up the areas with cosmetics, as this could irritate the skin further.

Picato Dose for Body Use

The standard dosage of Picato for treating actinic keratosis on the trunk or extremities (arms and legs) is Picato 0.05% gel applied once daily for two days in a row. One tube contains a single dose; discard any leftover gel, and use a fresh tube for each dose.

It's important to note that the higher concentration of the product is used on the body, while the lower concentration is used on the face and scalp.
