Safety Concerns With Neosporin
Side Effects of Neosporin
Just like any medicine, Neosporin may cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.Possible side effects of Neosporin include:
- Reddening of the skin
- Allergic skin reactions
- Itching.

Drug Interactions
Neosporin is unlikely to interact with other medications (see Neosporin Drug Interactions).Important Information for Your Healthcare Provider
Prior to using Neosporin, tell your healthcare provider if you:- Have a puncture wound, an animal bite, or a serious burn
- Have any allergies, including to medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives
- Are pregnant (see Neosporin and Pregnancy)
- Are breastfeeding (see Neosporin and Breastfeeding).
Make sure to talk to your healthcare provider about any medicines you are taking, including prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
