Is Neosporin Good for Scrapes?
Can Neosporin Prevent the Healing of Scrapes?
Neosporin contains neomycin along with two other antibiotics. Neomycin can cause allergic reactions in some individuals. Sometimes, there are no other symptoms of a reaction other than a failure to heal. Other times, more dramatic symptoms can appear, such as severe rashes.
Because of the tendency for neomycin to cause such reactions, many healthcare providers recommend a double antibiotic ointment such as Polysporin® instead. However, for individuals who do not develop such reactions, Neosporin is still a good choice for wound care.
