Side Effects of Mupirocin

While most people tolerate mupirocin well, side effects are possible. The exact ones a person experiences are often related directly to the form of mupirocin being used. For example, the nasal ointment may cause headache or upper respiratory infection, whereas the skin ointment and cream forms may cause itching or burning. Potentially serious side effects, like severe skin reactions or unexplained swelling, should be reported to a healthcare provider.

An Introduction to Mupirocin Side Effects

Just like any medicine, mupirocin (Bactroban®) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in many cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.
