Mupirocin Drug Interactions

Mupirocin (Bactroban®) is a prescription antibiotic that is applied either to the skin or inside the nose, depending on the particular product. Mupirocin is unlikely to interact with other drugs.
Studies have shown that, when used correctly, mupirocin is not absorbed into the body to a significant extent. Thus, it is unlikely to have an effect on other medications.
Nonetheless, it is still a good idea to ask about any drug interactions with mupirocin that may apply to your particular situation. If you must apply other skin products, ask your healthcare provider whether the products can be applied with mupirocin or if you must stop using the other products temporarily.
