Mangosteen is a type of fruit that appears to have several medicinally active compounds. As a result, many people will eat the fruit, drink the juice, or use supplements to help treat or prevent conditions such as arthritis, cancer, and diarrhea.
Do mangosteen supplements actually work? At this time, more research is needed to determine if they are safe and effective for any use. Even though mangosteen is considered a "natural" substance, it does not mean it is automatically safe for everyone.
For example, because the product has not been extensively studied, it is not known if it is safe (or unsafe) for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Also, you may not be able to use mangosteen medicinally if you have a chronic health condition or certain allergies. Be sure to speak to your healthcare provider before using this product medicinally.
