Skin Home > Capex
As a topical steroid, Capex is a special type of shampoo that can help treat a common scalp condition known as seborrhea. This product is used once a day and is applied directly to the scalp. Side effects are possible and may include dryness, acne, and inflammation of the skin follicles.
How Does It Work?Capex is part of a group of medications known as glucocorticoids. Glucocorticoids are a type of corticosteroid, or "steroid" for short. Although glucocorticoids have numerous effects in the body, they are used mostly for their anti-inflammatory or immune-suppressing properties. Capex works for seborrhea by decreasing inflammation or suppressing an overactive immune system.
When and How to Use CapexSome general considerations to keep in mind during treatment with Capex include the following:
- Capex comes as a shampoo base and a capsule that contains the active ingredient. Your pharmacist should have opened the capsule and mixed the active ingredient into the shampoo before dispensing the medication. You should not receive the capsule. If you notice the capsule in your packaging, contact your pharmacist. It is possible that he or she forgot to mix it for you.
- Use this medication once a day. Shake the bottle well before each use.
- Apply up to one ounce of the shampoo to the scalp and work to a good lather. Leave on for at least five minutes, then rinse off.
- For Capex to work properly, it must be used as prescribed.
