This ointment contains the active form of vitamin D and can help relieve symptoms of mild-to-moderate plaque psoriasis. It is applied to the affected areas of the skin twice daily. Some of the most common side effects include itching and skin discomfort.

Are There Side Effects?Just like any medicine, calcitriol ointment may cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
Important Information for Your Healthcare ProviderTalk with your healthcare provider before using calcitriol ointment if you have:
- High blood calcium levels (hypercalcemia)
- Any allergies, including to medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives.
- Pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant (see Vectical and Pregnancy)
