Ivermectin Lotion

Available by prescription only, ivermectin lotion is specifically designed to treat head lice in adults and children as young as six months old. This medication is applied to the hair and scalp in one single treatment. It kills the lice, as well as the nits (eggs). Side effects seen with this product may include irritation or redness of the eyes.

What Is Ivermectin Lotion?

Ivermectin lotion (Sklice®) is a prescription medication approved for treating head lice. It can be used to treat children as young as six months old. It can be effective in just one treatment without the labor-intensive combing to remove eggs (called "nit picking").

Are There Side Effects?

Just like any medicine, ivermectin lotion can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses this lotion will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
 
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
