Istodax Dosage

When determining your dosage of Istodax, your healthcare provider will calculate an appropriate amount based on your height and weight. If you develop serious side effects, however, you may need a lower dose or have to stop using the medicine altogether. Istodax is given as an intravenous injection on days 1, 8, and 15 of a 28-day treatment cycle.

An Introduction to Dosing With Istodax

The dose of Istodax® (romidepsin) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, based on a number of factors, including:

  • Your height and weight
  • How well you tolerate the medication.

As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

What Is the Recommended Istodax Dosage?

The usual recommended dosage of Istodax for treating T-cell lymphoma is based on your body surface area, which is calculated using your height and weight. Doses are normally given on days 1, 8, and 15 of a 28-day cycle. The cycle will be repeated as long as the medicine is working and is not causing serious side effects.

If you do experience serious side effects, treatment will be stopped until the side effects improve. Your healthcare provider will then determine if you should restart Istodax at the same dose or a lower amount. In some cases, your healthcare provider may recommend you stop using the medicine altogether.

General Information on Receiving Istodax

Some considerations to keep in mind during treatment with Istodax include the following:

  • Istodax is given as a slow injection into a vein (an intravenous, or IV, infusion) over a four-hour period.

  • The injection will be given by a healthcare provider in a healthcare setting, such as a hospital or clinic.

  • Doses are usually given about a week apart for three doses, followed by a short break, for a 28-day treatment cycle.

  • The medication should be inspected before use and should not be given if it contains particles or is discolored.

  • For the medication to work properly, it must be used as prescribed. It is important to keep your appointments to receive your Istodax doses.

  • If you are unsure about anything related to your dosage or Istodax dosing in general, please talk to your healthcare provider or pharmacist.
