Hydrocortisone butyrate (
Locoid®) is a prescription skin medication that is available in several forms, including a cream, ointment, solution (liquid), lotion, and Lipocream. It is approved to treat various skin conditions, such as eczema,
psoriasis, and dermatitis. There are generic versions of hydrocortisone butyrate cream, ointment, and liquid solution; however, no generic products are currently available for the Lipocream and lotion.
The earliest predictable date that generic versions of the Lipocream and lotion may become available is when the patents expire (June 2014 for the Lipocream and January 2025 for the lotion).
