What Is Fluocinonide?
Many skin conditions that involve itching and inflammation can be treated with fluocinonide (Lidex®, Vanos®). But what is fluocinonide, specifically?
Fluocinonide is a steroidal skin medication that comes in many forms, such as a:
- Cream
- Emollient cream
- Gel
- Ointment
- Topical solution.
It is approved to treat a number of skin conditions, including:
- Atopic dermatitis
- Contact dermatitis
- Eczema
- Poison ivy.
Depending on the type and severity of the condition being treated, fluocinonide is typically applied between one and four times a day to the affected area.
