Firazyr

When and How to Use It

Some general considerations to keep in mind during treatment with Firazyr include the following:

  • This medication comes as a liquid that is given as an injection just beneath the skin (a subcutaneous, or SC, injection).

  • The injections are normally given in the abdominal (stomach) area.

  • Do not use more than 3 doses of this medication in a 24-hour period.

  • Your healthcare provider will show you how to self-inject Firazyr. Make sure you understand exactly how to use it before giving yourself injections.

  • Firazyr comes as a clear and colorless solution. Make sure to inspect the vials before use. Do not use the medication if it is discolored or contains particles.

  • If you use this medicine to treat a laryngeal (voice box) attack, you should seek immediate medical attention afterwards. Laryngeal attacks can be life-threatening.

  • For the medication to work properly, it must be used as prescribed.

Dosing Information

There is only one standard dose of Firazyr, regardless of your age or weight. However, you may need more than one dose if your symptoms come back or do not improve.

As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.
