Additional Information on Erythromycin/Benzoyl Peroxide

Storage Information

You can store erythromycin/benzoyl peroxide (in a jar) in the refrigerator, for up to three months. After this time, discard any unused portion. Keep the lid tightly closed when not in use.
 
Benzamycin Pak should be stored at room temperature, away from heat and open flames. Store the medication in its original pouches, and do not mix it until right before use. Keep this and all other medications out of the reach of children.
 

Is There a Generic Version?

Erythromycin/benzoyl peroxide (sold under the brand name Benzamycin) is available in generic form. However, Benzamycin Pak is not available in a generic version at this time (see Generic Benzamycin for more information).
 

Who Makes Erythromycin/Benzoyl Peroxide?

Brand-name erythromycin/benzoyl peroxide (sold under the name Benzamycin) is made by Dermik Laboratories. Generic erythromycin/benzoyl peroxide is made by Tolmar, Inc. Benzamycin Pak is made by DPT Lakewood, Inc., for Dermik Laboratories.
 

Available Strengths

Erythromycin/benzoyl peroxide comes in the following strengths and forms:
 
  • Erythromycin/benzoyl peroxide 3%/5% Gel, which is supplied in a jar
  • Benzamycin Pak 3%/5% Gel, which is supplied as individual pouches.
 
Both products contain 3% erythromycin and 5% benzoyl peroxide.
