By suppressing the immune system, Elidel® (pimecrolimus) can help treat mild-to-moderate atopic dermatitis (eczema) in adults and children as young as two years old. It comes in the form of a cream and is applied in a thin layer on the affected areas of the skin twice daily. Although most people tolerate this medicine well, side effects may include coughing, headaches, and burning at the application site.
