Diflorasone Emollient Cream Side Effects

Even though many people tolerate diflorasone emollient cream well, side effects are possible. Some of the most common reactions include skin irritation, dryness, and burning. There are also some potentially serious problems that may occur when using this skin cream. For example, contact your healthcare provider if you develop severe fluid retention, any type of infection, or hallucinations.

An Introduction to Side Effects of Diflorasone Emollient Cream

Just like any medicine, diflorasone emollient cream (ApexiCon® E Cream) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.

Side Effects to Report

Some side effects of steroids, including diflorasone emollient cream, are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:

  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • High blood sugar (hyperglycemia) or diabetes
  • Infections
  • Ruptured tendons
  • Psychotic reactions, such as hallucinations or extreme aggression
  • Glaucoma
  • Severe fluid retention
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:

    • An unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Unexplained swelling
    • Difficulty breathing or swallowing.

In general, these serious reactions are extremely unlikely to occur when diflorasone emollient cream is used as directed for a short time. Applying too much, over too large an area, and for extended periods may increase the risk for serious steroidal side effects.
