Desoximetasone Side Effects

Among the commonly reported side effects of desoximetasone are dryness, itching, and irritation of the skin. In most cases, reactions to this skin medicine tend to be minor and easily treated. However, there are also some problems that may lead to serious complications and should be reported to a healthcare provider right away, including severe fluid retention, infections, and ruptured tendons.

An Introduction to Side Effects of Desoximetasone

Just like any medicine, desoximetasone (Topicort®) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.

Desoximetasone Side Effects to Report

Some side effects of desoximetasone are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • High blood sugar (hyperglycemia) or diabetes
  • Infections
  • Ruptured tendons
  • Psychotic reactions, such as hallucinations or extreme aggression
  • Glaucoma
  • Severe fluid retention
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
    • An unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Unexplained swelling
    • Difficulty breathing or swallowing.
