A healthcare provider may prescribe desonide cream (DesOwen^®) to adults who have certain skin conditions. But what is desonide cream and how does it work?

This prescription medicine is approved for treating several skin problems, such as:

Psoriasis
Eczema
Dermatitis
Poison ivy.

As a type of steroid, desonide cream works to treat these and other skin problems by reducing inflammation and suppressing an overactive immune system. The cream is applied to the affected areas of the skin two to three times daily.
