Symptoms of Decadron Withdrawal
Decadron® (dexamethasone) is a type of corticosteroid (or "steroid" for short) used to treat a wide variety of conditions, such as allergic reactions, respiratory disorders, rheumatic conditions, and various other conditions.
This prescription medication works by reducing inflammation and suppressing the immune system. Your body will become accustomed to Decadron and will gradually stop making its own natural steroids. This is why it is important to not suddenly stop taking this medication without your healthcare provider's approval. In most cases, your dose will need to be reduced slowly to allow your body time to adjust.
Stopping Decadron too quickly may cause withdrawal symptoms, including:
- Vomiting
- Confusion
- Headaches.
