Generic Decadron

At this time, there are a variety of generic Decadron (dexamethasone) products available. In fact, this medication is only available in generic form, as the brand-name drug is no longer manufactured. There are many different forms and strengths of generic Decadron available, and various companies make these products. Some of these generics (but not all of them) are considered equivalent to brand-name Decadron.

Can I Buy Generic Decadron?

Decadron® (dexamethasone) is a prescription medication that belongs to a class of drugs called corticosteroids, or "steroids" for short. It is approved to treat a wide variety of conditions.
 
Decadron used to be made by Merck and Co., Inc., but Merck no longer makes the medication, and brand-name Decadron is no longer available. However, several manufacturers currently make generic dexamethasone medications.
 

Available Strengths

Generic Decadron is available in the following forms and strengths:
 
  • Dexamethasone 0.5 mg tablet
  • Dexamethasone 0.75 mg tablet
  • Dexamethasone 1 mg tablet
  • Dexamethasone 1.5 mg tablet
  • Dexamethasone 2 mg tablet
  • Dexamethasone 4 mg tablet
  • Dexamethasone 6 mg tablet
  • Dexamethasone 0.5 mg per 5 mL elixir (oral liquid that contains alcohol)
  • Dexamethasone 0.5 mg per 5 mL solution (oral liquid without alcohol)
  • Dexamethasone 0.1% ophthalmic/otic solution (eye/ear drops)
  • Dexamethasone 4 mg per mL injection
  • Dexamethasone 10 mg per mL injection.
