Drugs That Interfere With Decadron

Decadron Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative reactions that can occur when Decadron is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Acetylcholinesterase Inhibitors
Taking Decadron with an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor may increase your risk for acetylcholinesterase inhibitor side effects. Specifically, you may be more likely to experience muscle weakness. Your healthcare provider may need to lower your acetylcholinesterase inhibitor dose if you are taking a high dose of Decadron.

Aldesleukin
Decadron can make aldesleukin less effective. In general, these medications should not be used together.

Antacids
Antacids may decrease the amount of Decadron absorbed into your body, which could make it less effective. Try to separate your doses of these medications by at least two hours. This interaction is only a concern when Decadron is taken by mouth.

Bile Acid Sequestrants
Bile acid sequestrant medications may decrease the amount of Decadron absorbed into your bloodstream, potentially making it less effective. Try to separate your doses of these medications by at least two hours to reduce the risk for this interaction. This reaction is only a concern when Decadron is taken by mouth.

Calcitriol
Decadron can decrease the effectiveness of calcitriol. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your blood calcium level if you take these medications together to make sure calcitriol is working for you.

Caspofungin
Decadron may decrease the level of caspofungin in your blood, potentially making it less effective. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor you more closely if you take these medications together. You may need a higher caspofungin dose.
