Cordran SP Cream Side Effects

Because Cordran SP Cream is an older medication, only vague information is available about its possible side effects. In general, side effects may include things like skin reactions, such as burning, itching, or dryness. Although reactions such as these are usually mild, contact your doctor right away if you develop more serious problems, such as infections, severe fluid retention, or ruptured tendons.

An Introduction to Cordran SP Cream Side Effects

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Cordran® SP Cream (flurandrenolide cream). However, not everyone who uses the medication will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.

(This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with Cordran SP Cream. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list with you.)

Common Side Effects of Cordran SP Cream

For many medications (especially newly approved medications), the prescribing information carefully explains the exact percentage of side effects that were seen in clinical trials. However, the prescribing information for almost all older medications, including Cordran SP Cream, provides only relatively vague information. Therefore, it can be difficult to know exactly how frequently adverse reactions occur.

The side effects listed in the prescribing information for Cordran SP Cream are actually just reactions to steroids in general, not necessarily for Cordran SP Cream specifically.

Common side effects of all topical steroids, including Cordran SP Cream, include but are not limited to:

  • Drying
  • Inflammation or infection of skin follicles (folliculitis)
  • Increased sweating
  • Burning
  • Itching
  • Irritation
  • Allergic contact dermatitis (allergic skin reactions)
  • Soft, whitened skin, much like skin that is constantly wet
  • Weakening and thinning of the skin
  • Acne
  • Decreased skin pigmentation
  • Rash around the mouth
  • Stretch marks
  • Heat rash.
  •
Side effects are more likely to occur if you cover Cordran SP Cream with a bandage, as this increases the absorption of the medication. Do not cover the medication unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.
