Clobetasol Propionate Dosage
Your specific dose of clobetasol propionate will depend on which product you are using and the skin conditions being treated. Several forms of this medicine are available, and it is important to follow the dosing guidelines carefully. If you use too much clobetasol propionate for too long, it can cause serious side effects.
An Introduction to Your Dosage of Clobetasol PropionateThe dose of clobetasol propionate (Clobex®, Cormax®, Olux®, Temovate®) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending mostly on which product you are using, as well as the type and severity of the skin condition you are treating. As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.
Clobetasol Propionate Shampoo Dosing Instructions
The standard dosage for clobetasol propionate shampoo (Clobex) for treating scalp psoriasis is a thin layer applied to the affected areas of the scalp once a day for up to four weeks. Make sure to apply the product to your dry scalp without water. Leave it on for 15 minutes, and then add water, lather, and rinse well.
While waiting the 15 minutes, make sure to keep the medication off your face, lips, and eyes, and wash your hands immediately after application. You may use another, nonmedicated shampoo afterward, if desired, although this is not necessary.
Clobetasol Propionate Lotion and Spray Dosing InstructionsClobetasol propionate lotion and spray products (Clobex) are usually applied twice a day. Rub in gently and completely. For most conditions, these medications should be used for no more than two weeks at a time. For stubborn cases of plaque psoriasis, these products can be used for an additional two weeks (four weeks total); however, use them sparingly and only on the areas that have not adequately improved.
For any use, do not apply more than 50 mL per week (for the lotion or spray). In addition, do not use more than 26 sprays at a time (or more than 52 sprays per day) for the spray form.
