Brimonidine Gel Side Effects

Potentially serious side effects can occur with brimonidine gel, such as allergic reactions and chest pain. If you develop reactions like these while using this rosacea medication, contact your healthcare provider right away. Other possible problems that have been reported include skin flushing, redness, and a burning sensation.

An Introduction to Side Effects of Brimonidine Gel

Just like any medicine, brimonidine gel (Mirvaso®) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the medication will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.

Brimonidine Gel Side Effects to Report

Some side effects of brimonidine gel should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
 
  • Worsening or exacerbation of the following conditions:
 
  • Low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Unexplained swelling of the mouth or throat
    • Wheezing
    • Difficulty breathing or swallowing.
