It comes in the form of a gel that is applied to the skin twice daily. Although most people tolerate this medication well, side effects may include a burning or stinging sensation and dry skin.

Just like any medicine, azelaic acid gel can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
