Aquaphor Healing Ointment
Aquaphor® Healing Ointment is used for a variety of different purposes. It is available over-the-counter (OTC) and can be used to:
- Temporarily protect and relieve chapped or cracked lips or skin
- Protect skin from the drying effects of cold weather and wind
- Temporarily protect minor cuts, scrapes, and burns
- Treat and prevent diaper rash.
Aquaphor works as a protective barrier to seal in skin's natural moisture and to seal out irritants. It also helps to soothe and heal skin. The ointment can be applied to the skin as often as necessary. For treating and preventing diaper rash, it should be applied after each diaper change.
It is possible that some individuals could develop skin irritation or allergic reactions when using Aquaphor. However, the healing ointment is unlikely to cause side effects when used properly. If the diaper rash (or other skin condition) does not improve within seven days, stop using Aquaphor and contact your healthcare provider.
(Click Aquaphor for more information about this healing ointment, including how it works, when and how to use it, and what you should discuss with your healthcare provider before using the product.)
