Alopecia Areata Prognosis

It is difficult to predict how a case of alopecia areata will progress, which means that an alopecia areata prognosis will vary from person to person. While there is always the possibility that hair can re-grow, individuals with alopecia areata experience different amounts of hair loss and hair re-growth.

Alopecia Areata Prognosis: A Summary

The course of alopecia areta is highly unpredictable. Hair may continue to fall out or hair loss may stop entirely. The hair you have lost may or may not grow back, and you may or may not continue to develop new patches of hair loss. Some people find that hair loss occurs once and never recurs. The possibility for full re-growth of hair always remains. In some cases, initial hair re-growth is white, with a gradual return of the original hair color. However, in most cases, hair that re-grows is the same color and texture as the original hair.
